Client Overview - A fair trade handcrafted gifts and home décor brand blending traditional Indian artistry with modern design
MatrBoomie joined our SEO Success Program in September 2023 with baseline monthly revenue of $5,000.
From the beginning, one of the main objectives was clear - prepare the shop for the most important shopping period of the year and build a Q4 strategy capable of delivering 20%+ growth in revenue compared to 2022.
Rather than treating Black Friday and Christmas as short promotional events, we approached the entire holiday season as a structured campaign beginning well before October.
The planning window was August and September. In our first year together, with the program beginning in September, we immediately prioritized Q4 preparation. In the following years, this process became an established part of MatrBoomie’s annual growth strategy.
The objective was not to generate one successful holiday season, but a repeatable Q4 growth system that could perform stronger year after year.

Key Findings
Holiday-season performance on Etsy is often decided before the holiday traffic actually arrives.
By October, buyers are already researching gifts. November brings Black Friday, Cyber Monday, and accelerated Christmas shopping, while December creates intense purchase intent but a much shorter effective selling window because of holiday shipping deadlines. This means waiting until November to optimize the shop is already too late.
Our Q4 preparation therefore focused on making sure the entire shop was ready before demand peaked:
- Holiday SEO keyword cluster maps
- Gift-focused search opportunities
- Listing titles, tags, categories, and attributes
- Promotional calendar and sale structure
- Pricing strategy
- Listing thumbnails and visual presentation
- Shipping settings and estimated delivery expectations
- Shop-wide promotional messaging
- Product positioning for gifting occasions
- Etsy Ads fine-tuning settings and smart spread of the budget
The goal was to enter October with the holiday season strategy already in place, so Etsy had time to understand the optimized listings and customers could discover holiday products as shopping demand increased.
The Strategy – preparing for Q4 before holiday shopping begins
1. Holiday SEO Keyword Cluster Maps
Holiday SEO preparation began before peak shopping demand.
We created keyword clusters around:
- Christmas gifts
- Recipient-specific gifting
- Holiday décor
- Product-specific gift searches
- Occasion-based keywords
- Long-tail high-intent searches
- Black Friday and seasonal buying behavior
This allowed the shop to enter the holiday season with stronger keyword coverage and clearer search positioning.
2. Etsy Ads Management
Usually, during the Holiday Season we have a few key periods:
- Increased Demand
- Peak Shopping
- Last-minute Sales
The increased traffic and conversion rates during Q4 months allow us to increase the ads budget while keeping the same or even better ROI.
We focused on bestsellers and historically strong Q4 performers, increasing the advertising budget from October 13 through November 10 to capture rising holiday demand. When ROAS exceeded 400%, we scaled the budget further to maximize profitable growth. After December 20, we returned budgets to normal levels as holiday demand began to slow. Throughout the entire period, we made real-time adjustments to budgets and campaigns whenever needed based on performance
3. Holiday Sale Events (Black Friday & Cyber Monday)
SEO alone was not enough. We planned the promotional structure in advance so pricing, discounts, sale events, and product positioning worked together throughout October, Black Friday, Cyber Monday, and the Christmas shopping period.
The objective was to avoid last-minute promotional decisions and create a clear schedule for when offers would launch, how products would be positioned, and which listings would receive the strongest visibility.
Etsy typically focused its main holiday promotion period between October 23 and November 30, often recommending a 25% discount. We chose to participate because Etsy created dedicated promotional pages and additional links that increased visibility for participating listings and stores.
Even when we did not participate for the full promotional period, we made sure to run a Cyber Week sale from November 20–30 to capture Black Friday and Cyber Week shoppers.
We also used different discount levels depending on the product type, with larger discounts on clearance items and adjusted percentages for seasonal or occasion-specific products.
4. Visual Preparation
We updated the Etsy storefront throughout Q4 to match each upcoming holiday and shopping occasion. Relevant seasonal products were placed in the shop cover, Featured area, and front page to immediately position the store for current buyer demand.
For each occasion, we featured the products being actively optimized while also keeping proven bestsellers visible. We also refreshed the storefront every few weeks so the most relevant seasonal and occasion-specific listings were always positioned prominently as buyer interest shifted throughout the holiday season.
5. Shipping & Shop Settings
Throughout Q4, we monitored listings closely to prevent important products from becoming sold out, expired, or inactive during periods of high demand.
We also prioritized faster processing times, as holiday shoppers were increasingly focused on receiving their orders quickly. Shorter processing windows helped strengthen buyer confidence and supported visibility for customers using Etsy’s ready-to-ship and delivery-time search filters.
This became particularly important in November and the first weeks of December as preparing these elements earlier helped MatrBoomie maximize the high-intent traffic available before the cutoff period.

The Q4 Breakthrough - 66% Holiday Revenue Growth in 2 Years
The results across three consecutive holiday seasons demonstrated the impact of early and structured Q4 preparation.
In Q4 2023, MatrBoomie’s first holiday season after joining the SEO Success Program, the shop achieved an 19% revenue increase across October, November, and December. November was the strongest growth month, with revenue increasing 27% YoY, supported by Black Friday activity and accelerating Christmas shopping.
Following that success, we expanded and refined the holiday strategy for 2024. The result was 35% Q4 growth, with December delivering the biggest breakthrough: a 51% YoY revenue increase, reaching $34,614 for the month.
The momentum continued into Q4 2025, when MatrBoomie achieved another 23% growth across the quarter. December once again stood out, increasing 33% YoY and reaching $46,100.
Across the three holiday seasons, Q4 revenue progressed from:
- Q4 2023 - $49,630 | 19%
- Q4 2024 - $66,887 | 35%
- Q4 2025 - $82,246 | 22%
From Q4 2023 to Q4 2025, total holiday-quarter revenue increased by 66%.
December showed an even stronger progression:
- December 2023 – $22,950 | +12% YoY
- December 2024 – $34,614 | +51% YoY
- December 2025 – $46,100 | +33% YoY
This was particularly important because December has a naturally compressed selling window. As Christmas shipping cut-off dates approach, usually around the final part of the month, buying activity can slow significantly. Despite this shorter window, MatrBoomie continued generating strong December growth year after year.
The key was preparation and a successful Q4 did not begin on Black Friday. It began in August and September.
